Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur supports the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf) in the development of local human resources and food & beverage industry through Competency Based Training (PBK) to baristas in Bogor Regency, held on 9 and 10 October 2024 in Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur.
The event aimed to enhance coffee brewing skills and create superior human resources with a global competitive advantage. Fifty creative economy participants in culinary business joined the training, which presented an instructor from the Professional Certification Institution (LSP) who had a license from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). The participants learned about coffee's types, characteristics, and diversity in the cultivation process- from planting coffee beans after harvest to processing, brewing techniques, and coffee serving.
Toar Ramses Emil Mangaribi, Head of Team 1 Adyatama Tourism Creative Economy, said, “The consumption rate or coffee drinking trend recently grew positively and aligned with the development of the local coffee industry in Indonesia. Seeing that the barista quality needs improvement, one of the ways is to attend competency-based training initiated by the Directorate of Human Resources Development for Creative Economy. After the training, there will be certificates for 50 participants who attended. Hopefully, it can create job openings and business opportunities for competent creative economy human resources.”
Yudi Santosa, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Bogor Regency, stated, “In Bogor Regency, from East to North Bogor, there have been thousands of baristas and surely they all need training to sharpen their coffee brewing and serving skills even better. The Competency-based Training for baristas held today by Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf becomes a bridge so the baristas can have work attitudes that comply with international standards and be more competitive.”
Budi Santoso, Operations General Manager of Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur said, “Very happy we can collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to be part of Competency Based Training for our barista friends in Bogor Regency. This collaboration is our token of synergy with the government as the effort in supporting competency enhancement and business opportunity for local industry, also it can motivate baristas to keep innovating and creating.”
