Caring for the environment can't stop at good intentions—it has to be proven through action. That is exactly the spirit Kawan Lama Group brought back to life through Better You in Action #2, an employee volunteering program that invites Insan ELITE to step up and make a real difference for the environment around them.
Held on August 29, 2026, at Tzu Chi's Environmental Preservation Education Depot in Gading Serpong, this second edition of the program proved once again that small steps, taken together, can create meaningful change. Here are three things that made Better You in Action #2 stand out.
1. More Than 50 Insan ELITE Rolled Up Their Sleeves to Sort Waste
Enthusiasm was at the heart of this event. More than 50 Insan ELITE gave up part of their weekend to sort roughly 70–80 kilograms of plastic bottles and other inorganic waste, helping give that waste a higher economic value. Their presence proved that caring for the environment can start with something simple, as long as it's done consistently.
2. A Collaboration with Mortier.id Turned Waste into Upcycled Keychains
The activity didn't stop at sorting waste. Together with Mortier.id, a partner focused on material processing and upcycling, participants got hands-on experience making upcycled keychains from used plastic bottle caps. Through this collaboration, Kawan Lama Group wanted to show that waste doesn't always have to end up as trash—it can be transformed into something valuable and useful.
3. More Than Sorted Waste, a New Habit to Take Home
Beyond the sorted waste they left behind, participants also took something more valuable home with them: a renewed spirit to live more sustainably. It's a spirit that starts with simple habits, like sorting waste at home and at the office, and grows through sharing it with family and colleagues. Good sorting from the very start makes the rest of the waste management process far easier.
Through Better You in Action #2, Kawan Lama Group once again proved that small actions can create real impact for the environment while inspiring more people to start sorting their waste. Looking ahead, the program will return with more exciting agendas—stay tuned for the next story!
