Welcoming Vesak Day and continuing its commitment towards cultural and environmental preservation, Kawan Lama Solution, part of Kawan Lama Group, presented #SolusiBersih (clean solution) program in one of UNESCO world’s cultural heritages and also the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, Borobudur, in Magelang, Central Java. Previously, the first #SolusiBersih was undertaken in the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta. This program utilizes highlighted cleaning technology of Nilfisk, a reputable cleaning equipment brand from Denmark, which was officially distributed in Indonesia by Kawan Lama Solution.
Hendrian Susanto, the Vice President National Sales Operation of Kawan Lama Solution stated, “During the Vesak ceremony, Borobudur will be used as a Buddhist’s place of worship and visited by thousands of people from all corners, we’d like to ensure the temple environment keeps clean and comfortable, to be able to support the smoothness and solemnity of the worship celebration. Through the #SolusiBersih program, Kawan Lama Solution intends to make a real contribution to preserving Indonesian cultural heritage through a modern, responsible, and sustainable approach. With the help of cleaning technology from Nilfisk, we bring an effective solution, but still keep the authenticity and care of maintaining historical sites. Hopefully, this initiative can be a collaborative inspiration in sustainably maintaining the nation’s cultural heritage.”
The Kawan Lama Solution team thoroughly cleaned various strategic points in the Borobudur Temple complex, focusing on the main courtyard, public access path for visitors, and a specific area that would be used for the worship process and religious activities ahead of Vesak.
The cleaning process was undertaken using sophisticated equipment from Nilfisk, which had features such as high technology, energy efficiency, environment friendly, and safe for historical structures. The series which were used such as ATTIX 50 for fine dust section in temple zones, Core 125 and C110E as high-pressure cleaners to remove mildew thoroughly, and LS430, SC351, and SC2000 for stair area, paving, and concourse path.
Dr. Hari Setyawan, S.S., M.T., representative from Cagar Budaya Museum, said, “Preservation efforts of historical sites such as Borobudur can’t be done alone, it needs synergy from various parties, including the private sector. Collaboration with Kawan Lama Solution in the #SolusiBersih program is a real support that gets our appreciation, especially in maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of the temple structure ahead of important moments such as Vesak. The approach used - either in method and technology - has been done with full caution and still prioritizes conservation principles that align with the preservation standard of cultural heritages.”
Support also came from PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, the area administrator under the management of InJourney. This collaboration aligns with Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur's mission to promote the management of cultural and environmental sustainability-based travel destinations. Mardijono Nugroho, Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, said, “We sincerely welcome #SolusiBersih initiative as part of the concrete effort in maintaining the comfort and cleanliness of Borobudur Temple areas ahead of Vesak Day. This program becomes a real example of how cultural heritage preservation can run in line with technological innovation, as long as it is done responsibly. We hope this collaboration can continue and inspire other businesses to take part in destination management, which is more sustainable and has positive impacts.”
